Flights
Flights at https://app.rotorlab.app/flights lists every flight your organization flew, newest first. Reach for it when you need the answer to a question about the flying itself: what flew this week, how much one aircraft flew last quarter, which flights were flown outside standing, or which flights have no reason on record. Each row opens that flight's own page, so the board never keeps a second copy of anything.
It sits in the menu under Flying, after File Flights. The board shows every flight to a role that reads Flights & logs. Any other role sees the flights the person flew or filed, and the page says so.
What you see first#
The heading says when the records were read. File flights sits beside it for a role that manages flights and logs; it opens File Flights.
Needs a decision comes first when something waits. It shows up to two cards:
- Flown outside standing: flights where the records said the aircraft, the pilot, the authorization or the packs were not in standing when the flight was stamped. Each card says how many, and names how many of them give no reason. Show these flights filters the board to them, and Show the N with no reason given narrows it to the ones with no reason.
- No purpose recorded: flights filed without a purpose.
With nothing waiting, the line reads "All clear" and says what was checked. When a card is live, the line reads Nothing else: and says what else was checked, so a zero under a card is never mistaken for an all clear.
A standing is a record, not a permission. The board reports what the records said at the time and never decides who may fly.
Choosing the flights#
Under the cards, Period offers This week (Monday to today), Last week, Last 30 days, Last 90 days, This quarter and All. A period is your organization's days: a flight belongs to the day it was flown in your organization's time zone. Last 30 days and Last 90 days cover the same days as on the Ops Dashboard, the logbook, the pilot record and Crew, so the same words give the same flights on every page, and the period's words show the days they resolved to. Filters opens the rest:
- From and To dates, each day included. Choosing either replaces the period.
- Aircraft, Pilot and Job. A link from a client's page filters the board to that client's flights. A flight's row names its job when you may read jobs; search finds a job's reference or title only on a flight you flew or filed unless you may read jobs.
- Sort by: date, newest or oldest first, or flight time, longest or shortest first.
- Include simulator and trainer sessions. Sessions are left out by default because they are not flights. When you include them they are listed and never counted as flight time.
- Search the flights, a box beside the period.
- My flights, which limits the board to the flights you flew or filed. It is on by default for a member who is not an organization admin, and you press it again to see everyone's flights.
- Outside standing only, with its count. After you press Show the N with no reason given a No reason given chip joins it.
Show flights closes the filters and applies them, and Clear the filter returns to the period you started with. The address keeps the whole view, so Copy link under This view shares exactly what you see. A link to an aircraft, pilot or job that your organization does not have says so under its list rather than showing a different board.
A line above the table gives the totals for the filter: the flights, the flight time, and how many are simulator sessions. Most flights names the aircraft that flew the most, and All counts opens the counts by aircraft.
Checklist runs#
A role that reads Flights & logs also sees a Show switch above the board with Flights and Checklist runs. Checklist runs lists your organization's checklist runs, newest first, each with its Date, Checklist, Aircraft, Signed by, Result and the Flight it is filed against. Narrow them by Period, Aircraft and Signed by, or press With a failed item or Not complete. A run is one pass over a checklist, signed by the person named, in the seat they gave; its answers and notes are on the flight. Members whose role does not read Flights & logs see their own runs on their My Record.
The table#
Each row shows the Date, Aircraft, Pilot, Purpose, Job, Flight time, Standing, Log and, for a role that reads every flight, Compare. Date and Flight time sort the whole result, not just the page, and the heading says which way (newest first, oldest first, longest first, shortest first). The board shows 50 flights to a page with Previous and Next, and focus moves to the first row of the new page. On a phone each flight is a card that leads with its standing, and Filters opens a sheet.
Standing is what the records said about the aircraft, the pilot, the authorization and the packs when the flight was stamped. A flight within standing reads Within standing. A flight filed on a later day than it was flown reads "Filed on a later day than it was flown.", because its standing could not be stamped, and a flight on legal hold is marked On legal hold.
Log says whether the flight's log file is kept and whether RotorLab has analyzed it:
| Log reads | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Log analyzed | The log is kept and has been read. |
| Log kept, not analyzed yet | The log is kept and nothing has read it yet. |
| Log kept, analysis queued | It is waiting its turn. |
| Log kept, being analyzed | It is being read now. |
| Log kept, could not be analyzed | The file could not be read. |
| Log kept, too large to analyze | The file is larger than the analyzer reads. |
| No log file | The flight was filed without a log. |
| Typed by hand | The flight was entered by hand and has no log. |
The flight's own page and the aircraft's Flights tab use the same words.
Comparing two flights#
Tick Compare on two flights whose logs were analyzed, of one aircraft or of two, and a bar above the table says how many are ticked. Compare the two opens them in Compare Flights, the earlier one first; Clear the ticks removes the ticks. Ticks stay while you change pages and filters, so two flights far apart can be picked. A flight with no analyzed log, a simulator session, or an aircraft that is not on the register shows a dash instead of a box. A member who sees only their own flights has no Compare column.
Exporting#
Export these N rows (CSV) downloads every row of the filter, not only the page you are on. The file opens with lines naming your organization, the days it covers and the filter, then one row per flight. When it is saved the page says "Saved" with the file name and the number of rows; the file name is shown beside the button before you press it. Each export is written to your organization's activity log.
Arriving from the dashboard#
On the Ops Dashboard, the Hours flown tile opens this board over the window the tile shows, with its link naming the span (for example "the flights of the last 30 days on the Flights board"), so the number you click is the number the board opens. Each row under Hours by aircraft and Hours by pilot opens it filtered to that aircraft or pilot over the same dates.
